Memories, Loss and Gratitude on Mother’s Day

What I missed most when I moved away from home to go to college was Mom waiting for me at day’s end, asking “How was your day?”  When I came back to my dorm room, nobody asked; nobody cared.  They cared about their own days; Mom had cared about mine.
